Idea 3: Virtual Tour Guide

Overview
The future is AR.
Sick of not knowing where to go, want to know the history of a particular point of interest or perhaps check restaurant reviews? With the help of AR technology have all the need to know information within one app. Like Tripadvisor but on the go.
I find it most frustrating when you’re on holidays in a new country that you don’t know you’re way around, what’s good from the bad, where to eat not to eat, visit not to visit, and what’s this monument about? With the use of AR technology as method of way finding, exploring will never be easier - ability to check reviews, information (such as opening times, whether tickets are required etc) or the history of a particular point of interest.
- Search for near by points of interest to receive on screen directions.
- View a restaurant through your camera to unlock the name, opening times, rating/reviews. Scenario: Walking down the strip on holidays, many restaurants with many persuasive promoters in your face, can’t gather what’s a good/bad place, get quick reviews within seconds.
- View an attraction through your camera to unlock name, opening time, rating/reviews, ticket prices and availability. Scenario: Exploring on holidays and came across an escape room that you’d like the sound of doing, within seconds you can see the opening times and ticket prices.
- View a monument through your camera to unlock the history behind it.
- Users can leave reviews (adding images) about certain attractions/restaurants themselves.
Pros
- There's similar ideas out there but majority aren't done well.
- I consider myself a highly illustrative designer and therefore want to bring that into my designs.
- Travel is extremely popular (however COVID😭) I think there's a number of people I know/online that will hopefully help out with user testing.
- A TripAdvisor on the go.
Cons
- There is a lot of travel content already out there on the internet.
