Dropmark

Using a number of different platforms (Designspiration, Dribbble, Ptterns etc) I've started to look at branding and visual aesthetic; collecting a range of inspiration for branding, app design, illustration, map design and more.

Branding

Product Name

I've struggled to decide on a product name so far, I started with 'Resfeber' and since decided on 'Travel Bucketlist'. However I'm still not 100% set on the name as I think it's quite a mouth full and the word 'bucketlist' can have negative conitations. So I'd like to take it back to the drawing board as I know I'm overthinking the name and should stick to something more simple and obvious. I think it will be easier to come up with a name the more I develop my project idea, especially perfecting the pitch.

I like the idea of finding one word as it's more catchy and easy to use. It was suggested to use 'Bucket' to shorten 'Travel Bucketlist' but I wasn't sold on it.

I like 'Hidden'. My product focuses on finding the hidden gems of your next adventure, therefore this product name is definitely more suiting and compliments my product pitch nicely.

Product Logo

We're one step closer to creating a brand! Next I want to look at a product logo for Hidden. So I started off by sketching some things to do with travel and discovery;

I've had the idea of using a map for a logo from the beginning as maps will be a large part of product - users should be able to see a location on the map to indicate how far away it is, saved posts will be viewed on a map to show it's location from others etc. Therefore a map is an accurate representation of the platform. I picked my favourite sketch and took half an hour to develop it digitally.

After a few iterations, below shows the outcome. I wanted to keep it simple but hopefully still recognisable that it's to represent searching on a map. Matching my brand colours of course, I did want to include the hint of orange in there but it clashed badly against the turquoise tones.
