A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words - Medium

Time to start sketching and digitalising illustrations! From the beginning I've been excited about creating a highly illustrative platform, as I know when using websites/apps myself I'm more interested by those that use good illustrations and iconography.

3 ways to use illustrations in UI design include;

1. Make UI more informative. Illustrations have a natural power for clarifying things. Remembering that when it comes to using digital products, users don’t read text on a screen, they scan.
2. Delight users. If they've reached a goal. If they are confused or frustrated eg. empty states.
3. Communicate personality. Creating brand identity and set the mood.

Required Illustrations

Making a list of the illustrations required will make it easier to keep on track.

• Onboarding
• Sign in/sign up
• Profile avatar x2/3
• Successful sign up
• Souvenirs
• Empty state for Trips page
• Empty state for profile
• Destination illustrations?? (Perhaps an illustration, perhaps just using images as I don't want to overload the platform.)
